AND THEY NEVER GET A RECEIPT
No need for a receipt if you 1) look at the terminal screen when you tap/swipe and 2) check your bank app to verify the charge. I always do both. I hate getting receipts for crap like this. The only things I want them for are things I may need to exchange or return, and even then I prefer an electronic one. Receipts are just more trash for the world. And yes, every little bit can help or hurt.

I have to disagree on previous. With every purchase, one should be provided with proof of payment. Makes it easier to prove ownership.

Yes, because it is always difficult to prove I own a tank of gas, an eaten sandwich, a consumed drink, etc.

I could expand my "The only things I want them for are things I may need to exchange or return" to include things I need to prove I own because apparently that is a thing because I have never had to do that unless I wanted to exchange or return something.

Maybe I should have also stated proof of purchase. There are apps out there where taking a picture and submitting receipts (no matter how small the purchase) gives you points towards rewards. Takes no time at all. Whatever the reason, one should get a no hassle receipt if one desires.

She knows better than to ask. But I do give her the ones that are forced on me.

The problem with a QR code is you rarely know where you are being sent. Is the sticker on the table legit from the restaurant or is it a different site from an evil person...

jbuck, do you really believe Gen Z checks the app/account to verify the amount charged was correct? That's basically like balancing your checkbook and only the olds do that

My wife scans all our receipts, and some that aren't ours that I take thatpeople leave behind. I can't remember what she told me but we have got at least $60 just this year from scanning receipts. All it takes is your time. Or rather, her time

I try whenever possible to use cash (or check) at small businesses and charities so they can avoid paying a credit card transaction fee. Those ridiculous fees add up and eat away at their profits. As if credit card companies don't make enough money, but that's a discussion for another topic.

I also feel that as a numismatist, it's my duty to keep coins and cash circulating.

I was at a cashless, or so they emailed me, event yesterday, where I only used cash for every single purchase. Cashless, ya right. Cash is still king.

I think it's so when you go to close out your tab, they can hit you with that final TIP screen every time.

How much you would like to tip on your $15 beer:

20% ($3)
22% ($3.30)
25% ($3.75)
Other (in small print at the bottom, which brings you to another screen as the people behind you look on and judge)
