The problem you're faced with is how to explain the presence of reverse design elements on only the excess copper.
Struck through copper foil is a possibility and those are seen from time to time on the forum. However, when the obverse die comes down and strikes the planchet through the foil the remnant of any design element that may already be on the foil will be obliterated and the foil will show only the elements on the side that it is located.
Your item should show either obverse die elements on the extra metal or reverse die elements on other parts of the fields if it was struck by the reverse die again. I don't see either.
Also, I see linear plating bubbles running across the coin at the bottom (shoulder, lapel, date) and it appears that I can see part of the bubble trail under the "metal", which argues for its transparency.

We all know it is glue. It would be nice if it was extra struck metal pieces, but it's not. Acetone will not remove everything. If it was extra metal, it would be struck into the surface, not added above the surface. And the top and bottom of the memorial lines up just perfect.

It would be nice if users on this forum had proper input and knowledge of coins, rather than trying your best to annoy people, but I'm afraid that's all I see on this site, trolls being purposely annoying , spend your time doing something worthwhile rather than looking for targets to get at

Sorry you feel that way @User1975. After reviewing all of the comments, I believe everyone was trying to be helpful, and provided valid and informed opinions based on the images provided and years or decades of experience. I do not believe anyone was: Quote:

In my experience on this forum, the responses one receives may not be what one wants to hear, as one may be excited to have found something odd or interesting and have formed an opinion of his or her own, however, folks provide honest, informed, experienced opinions and advice, as well as links to numismatic references for others to study and learn on their own... folks will also tell it like it is, and call it like they see it... we may not always get it right at first, but the majority of the time, the correct diagnosis/answer/conclusion is arrived at, provided the original poster makes a serious attempt and reviews and researches the information provided, follows the advice provided, and submits new images when and if requested. You may receive all responses in agreement with your own some of the time and some responses in agreement with your own all of the time, but you will not receive all responses in agreement with your own all of the time (I think Abraham Lincoln said that)... If you are looking for everyone to agree with all of your opinions all of the time, perhaps you should seek a different venue to share your finds and opinions and ask your questions (I said that). Igwt79, thank you so much for your help with this problem I face, it was TACC's comment..."Does ANACS still recognize glue as a "Mint Error"?", that got me frustrated. Also I've had a very negative experience with my posts with users being less than helpful!! I'll try to behave myself with future comments but it's hard when I feel attacked. Cheers

Simple put, when a member does not agree with the majority of members comments they can always send the coin in question to a TPG like ANACS if they trust the results they will get from that slabbing company.It will cost them money and chances are you will get the same answer you got here on CCF for no charge.John1

The images are nice and clear. In your first image, there is a pretty strong shadow cast under Lincolns chin. This indicates that the material is above the field of the coin a significant amount. It shouldn't be raised if this material had been struck by dies. This is what Hondo Bogus was trying to point out when "extra" material is struck by dies. In a few places on your coin there are areas where a surface flaw from circulation (partial fingerprint in front of his nose for one) is visible in the field and under the anomaly. The material on your coin is most likely some sort of adhesive. We've all probably come across this before and had to do double takes and it can be frustrating. BTW- Thanks for looking through all the US coinage that escaped across the pond. Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

Tacc, wow what can I say, you've really done your homework on me haven't you, without getting into an ongoing debate on posts and previous posts I'll let it slide, but don't think for a second I'm only looking for agreements with my posts just polite and sensible feedback, it's not glue like I've said and as for my comments let's talk about your comment about anacs? Looks like adhesive as everyone else has suggested.. Have you tried poking at those pieces with a toothpick? they usually pop right off.
