My grandfather passed down a collection that has been picked apart by family ahead of me and Ive got what was left over from it. This piece and many others were included in it without any labels or anyone with knowledge of his reason for collecting. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

First, a big

That cent must have had some stories on how post mint damaged it got after it left the Denver mint in 1956...
Nice as a heirloom coin after a loved one, damaged or not, as I have quite a number of passed down coins in my collection, so I know the feeling.

But yeah, post mint damage occured to this cent, so not a mint error to my eyes

This is the third from last year of the Wheat cent coming to a close, and the date is a very common cent with many millions minted that year from both mints.

@its, first welcome to CCF.

Second, rather than creating a duplicate thread, if you just click the "report this post to staff" link, then we can help move it over to the correct subforum for you. Thx.
