After seeing the 1879 To 1999 Dollar Date Set (Dansco #7172) being assembled by hfjacinto, I also got in the mood of assembling a set of dollars by date. Since I am not a huge fan of the Susan B. Anthony dollars, nor the Peace and Ike dollars (not hard feelings, jbuck), I decided to stick with Morgan dollars only. According to PCGS, a complete Morgan dollar Date Set would unfortunately be a costly endeavor, pricing at about $10k+ for coins in AU/MS condition. That's a bit too much to me, especially since I would like to place the coins in a nice Dansco album. Ten grand sitting on a bookshelf is unconceivable to me. I therefore opted to look for circulated Morgan dollars with a nice "Circulation Cameo". My plan is to exclusively buy the Morgan dollars at coin shows as I find it fun to browse through the offering of the coin dealers present and pick the coin with the best eye appeal to me. To start, I wanted to buy a Dansco 7171 album. Initially, this album was hard to locate for a good price as most sellers wanted $100+ for the album if it was in stock at all. I got a lucky break when hfjacinto mentioned Collectorscorner, which I contacted by email. Fortunately, they had a Dansco 7171 in stock for a very good price, which I bought immediately. It arrived today.

The first two Morgan dollars I bought at the NH Coin & Currency Expo are a 1894-O and 1901. Twenty six more to go (plus the four mint mark versions)!

Congrats! Great album! I'm really looking forward to the set! Solid great start! I'm also only buying locally or Allen's coin shop in Ohio, no ebay. I'm going to sell a duplicate Hawaii $1 and pick up a Morgan for my book!

Upon further inspection, it looks like my 1894-O Morgan dollar is VAM-2, "O tilted right".
