@jbuck, you are the very definition of biased when it comes to Ikes vs. other series.
I am not ashamed of it, either.

Well, you're not going to find any pre-1965 Roosevelts or Washingtons in change. And most Lincolns before 1970 have also basically disappeared from circulation.

Perhaps scale back your goals to include clad 10-cent and 25-cent coins from change. And then, as your budget permits, purchase the silver coins for these two series. The good news is that neither has any extremely rare dates (with the exception of the 1932 Washingtons), so they are probably the most affordable to collect.

If I do end up doing a Washington quarter set, I'll definitely add these coins last.

Might want to rethink that and buy those first...the longer you wait the more you'll pay. Remember common coins will always be common.

I'm glad you decided to expand your collection, it is a fun adventure to take on.
You mentioned Dansco albums - If you want a sneak peek at these albums in a completed format, take a look at my albums. (the links are in my signature below.)

That's true. I've been having a grand time filling up holes in my coin folders with all the 25-cent commems beginning in 1999 to the present. I also created my own folder for quarters from 1980 to 1998. For the most part, these coins are plentiful and looking for new homes. I also still have a few empty holes for Jeffersons and Roosevelts. One day, they will be filled--from circulation.

Yeah, when I mean from circulation, I mean coins that can be found easily in circulation. I also am fond of the fact that you can actually buy circulated versions of coins that are harder to find in actual circulation. Going for something like this would definitely help budget friendly collectors like myself. For example, good luck finding a 1939-D Jefferson nickel in circulation. I can buy a circulated one from my coin dealer, that was still in pretty decent shape, for 10 dollars. In BU, I've seen them go close to 100. Doing something like this makes more sense to me than hoping to find one in circulation, and would cut down considerably on not only time, and frustration, but cost compared to buying BU as well.

And I recognize there are coins that I just don't be able to find, basically any silver coins (besides nickels) before 1964, which would include quarters and times. Oddly enough, years ago, I had acquired a 1957 silver dime in change. I actually kept it and still have it all these years later. So most likely, I will just purchase coins that are ridiculously hard to find from circulation.

I recognize that most dollar coins can't really be found anymore. I will have to actually purchase them. And I have found pre-1970 pennies quite frequently.

I vote for either Kennedy halves or Ike dollars, both can be obtained relatively cheaply. Just start asking for them whenever you go into the bank.

He could pay full retail for all our collections and not even notice the dip.

I don't care about Elon Musk lol He's a tool.

That said, I think I will definitely look into Ike dollars. Seems a pretty interesting set.

I tend to like series that are kind of long, with lots of coins. That's one reason why I like Jefferson nickels so much.
I still have some older ones to fill up in my collection, but that shouldn't really take too long. I am planning to buy them next month possibly.
I am also considering starting to collect the Jeffersons from 2006 and newer, but I'm not really a fan of the re-design. Personally, I wish they would have gone with the 2005 design and buffalo reverse.
I am not entirely sure whether I should add the 06 and newer Jeffersons to a new album, or just add a page to my current Dansco Jefferson 38-05 album. It would actually be cheaper probably to do it with just adding additional pages, as it seems Dansco albums can generally accommodate up to 8 pages in an album. The album currently has 5 pages. I'm not planning on adding the proofs, so I can literally buy the 2006-2023 Jefferson Dansco page and just add it to my album currently.

I wish there was more series like the Jefferson, where they had very long runs and barely any silver coins. Dansco does have a 1909-2009 Lincoln Cent album, both with proofs and without. I feel this would be a great way to go. However, obviously, there are some expensive, REALLY expensive coins in it. But there are a ton of coins I would assume I can find in circulation, either from pocket change or coin roll hunting.

I recently ordered a Dansco Roosevelt dime album from 1946-current. I'm not entirely sure about it, though. No proofs. Dimes seem a little.... Meh. I do like the idea of a Washington quarter album collection until 98.

I was just thinking.... Another good set that people probably overlook a lot would be a " Lincoln Memorial cent" set.

I can't imagine any of the coins are ridiculously expensive, and can probably still be had from pocket change or coin roll hunting.
