Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted or worked on my coin collection.

I'm looking for advice and opinions on how to continue collecting US circulating coinage without collecting the American Women Quarters.

For context, I usually buy the US Uncirculated P & D Sets every year as well as the Silver Proof Set from every year. The State Quarters were fun but after the ATB Quarters I'm burnt out on so many different designs and would like to forgo collecting the American Women Quarters. Besides, these current Silver Proof Sets are way more expensive than I remember them.

I've noticed that the current packaging of the Uncirculated Sets makes it nearly impossible to cut around one of the quarters (not sure why they didn't just put all the quarters on one side), and searching for "Silver Proof Set without Women Quarters" has not helped me find what I need.

Does anyone know if it would be too difficult to find the coins in their original packaging separate from one another? Or is it common for some sellers to separate? How can I go about this?

Thank you
AC

I can only commend your decision not to collect the American Women Quarters, a silly endless series which will eventually include Brenda Lee and Mama Cass the way it's going. Shameless money grab.

If they get around to putting Mary Ann Summers (Dawn Wells) on one, I might become interested again.

They don't excite me either. I don't even look for quarters anymore. Last album I have is for the State Quarters. If I happen to run across anything in decent shape, I throw them in a tube. I figure my Grandkids or Great Grandkids might want to mess around with them. I'm not......

Okay, okay - if they pick Donna Summer (Hot Stuff), I'll buy a roll.

Well, you only have one more year to suffer I guess. The program concludes in 2025, just in time for the 250th anniversary coins/sets.

Just like the RCM helped kill modern coin collecting by putting out an insane amount of designs every year, the US mint is now doing the same. I quit collecting at the State Quarters. I just did not desire to put away that many quarters per year that, because not siver, would only decrease in value every year.

it was a neat idea if they stopped with the states. After that, to me, it just got ridiculous and continues to go beyond being ridiculous now.

However...if someone likes them...then by all means...enjoy. Hobbies are about fun. All the more power to you!

I STILL am waiting for the Famous Pothole series, Famous Street Pavers of America Series, The American Earthworm Species series, Famous Landfill Location Series, and (what is sure to be a smash hit) The American Made Window Blind Varieties series.

Just bite the bullet, get a Dansco or Whitman album, and put the quarters in it.

Or maybe you can spend them, sell them, or gift them to a woman in your life?

Another option is to not buy the sets. Go to a dealer or coin show and get them already separated.

For what it is worth, I have them in a Dansco and actually appreciate the series. I like Women. I would not be here without having had a few important ones in my life.

Yeah it seems that way to me.

I hear they are releasing more sets with multiple reverse designs afterwards. If so, I'm not interested in those either.

I noticed that, too. I started collecting the RCM bullion but there were way too many variations to keep up with.

These guys definitely deserve more recognition.

I've thought about it, but I've decided to work my way backwards into the coins I like such as Mercury dimes and Peace dollars and silver coinage, rather than buy a new Dansco to fill with more clad coins I'm not interested in, and then doing the same for the next quarter series.

I was very tempted to continue the trend and buy the Silver Proof Sets but the mint raised the price astronomically (Silver didn't go up THAT much).

Great ideas worth contemplating. Decisions, decisions. Such a hard life as a coin collector these days

Probably a better idea. Collect what interests you!

You can "give up" on moderns for now. If you fill a need to keep your cents, nickels, dimes, etc. updated, you can always get them later. I do not see their values skyrocketing. You will probably save money in the process, especially by not having to worry about liquidating the quarters.

I liked Dawn Wells. About 6 months before she died I ordered an autographed photo of her from her website. Rather have this than her on a quarter.

I have often thought that future coin collectors will have a ridiculous challenge with the profusion of state, ATB, famous women, and other quarter dollar series. The same is true of the dollar coins.
