Did you see the prices? Its cheaper to buy gold coins. The 100 goldbacks is ~$500, a 1/10 ounce gold coin is ~$300. So $200 for a fancy design in a note that is supposed to be used. I'm reminded of the PT Barnum saying

"Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public."

I love the art on Goldbacks but I'm not throwing away cash on this prepper nonsense.

no argument here...definitely not an investment vehicle ... but, then, they're not really marketed as such ... rather, a barter exchange ...

...I'm going with P.T.Barnum on this one ...

Some of the designs are stunning.
I'd like to have one of those $5s with the female Swashbuckler.

The 5 Goldbacks are a nice size - 5.75" X 2.5". APMEX has other 5s for $29 plus shipping (there's $13 of gold in it). It costs more for me to take my girlfriend to eat at Waffle House.

The rich allegorical imagery harkens back to the Canadian Banknote series of 1937, but even more elaborate. Quite attractive to look at but the quoted prices do not intrigue me either.

I know they are expensive, but they might have collector value. You can pre-order the limited edition Alpha versions of the 2025 Florida Goldbacks before they go into normal production at https://www.goldback.com/news/flori...december-2nd
