I haven't been on the computer much for quite awhile now, so I thought I'd drop in and say howdy. As some of you may recall, I completed my Barber halves some time back, and I've been working on the quarters and dimes in the series - still missing those three elusive quarters, but I have completed the Barber dimes. As with the halves, there's nothing high grade in the lot, but, even in the lower grades, a few of them are a tad expensive. Anyway, that's the latest from my house - hope everyone is doing well. Congratulations Ralph. None of those are easy to complete.
I'm pecking away at the quarters in G-VG. Only 33 to go and, yes, 3 I may never own. Was thrilled when I was able to pick up five new ones last week at work.

Wow. Congrats. How much does a full Barber Half Album weigh? I don't even want to think about all three of them together!

I have the Barber dimes and halves completed and the quarters complete minus the two most expensive. Have the 96-S quarter. My dimes are pretty nice mixture of G to EF; the other two sets are low grade G-VG

Thak you all who responded so far. Kabiye_Lady - a full set of uncirculated Barber halves would weigh 912.5 grams (12.5 X 73 divided by 31.1 would come out to 29.340836 ounces) however my set is circulated so I have no idea as to what percentage of that mine would weigh. KenKat - when I complete a set, it goes in the box at the bank, so I can't post photos of any of them without retreiving them from there. I do have scans of the obverse pages of the Dansco Albums saved in my computer, but they are too big to post here (scannned at 600dpi and enhanced - contrast and sharpness) and I don't know how to reduce them enough so that they will post here. I've tried, but it just won't accept them at the size they are. Ralph

You can post them at say geocities.yahoo.com and link to them. If you have a yahoo account.
I am sure there are other sites that would let you store the photos.

decided to look at numismedia on the Barber dimes. Why do they have the 1894-S listed there? Wasn't that a proof only strike (with only 24 examples)

Ralph and mycrob: Congrats on the Barber dimes! I'm working on this series myself and was wondering about your 1895-O. If you don't mind me asking what grade is it and how much it cost. nod2003: Yes, the 24 proof examples of the 1894-S were minted under "questionable" circumstances and nearly everybody considers this coin unnecessary for a complete set.

I am down to the 95-o, the 13-s, and the two mint marked 96's. Slow and steady.

TreasHunt - I know they are, but given my age and my health, I don't know if I'll be around to wait for the nicer ones. And, too, that little old piece of a check the VA sends me each month doesn't stretch very far - after the bills are paid and groceries are bought, there's not a whole lot to dedicate to my coin collecting budget. I only started collecting coins around four years ago, and it's never become something that I perceive as a money-making venture, nor have I ever considered it as an investment thing. I just enjoy this fantastic hobby, and I'm probably as happy (maybe more so) when I get a new "old" coin that I don't already have, as someone who acquires a coin worth thousands. I do have some nice coins, and some, maybe not so nice, and I've saved them (obverse album pages) on photobucket, reduced them ther to medium-320x240 (whatever that means) - I'd like to post them in the member's image gallery in order to share with others in the forum, but I can't figure out how to get them from there to here. I'll figure it out one of these days. Anyway, my collection is mainly for my own pleasure, and fun for me. I fear, if I ever get into worrying about how much it might be worth, I'll lose some of that fun, and then it wouldn't be so enjoyable for me anymore.

Ralph, Congrats on the completion. I have finished my Half set, 1 away on the quarters and a few on the dimes. Takes a long time to find the right coin for the album. : )

Quote: I'd like to post them in the member's image gallery in order to share with others in the forum, but I can't figure out how to get them from there to here. I'll figure it out one of these days. It's easy! You do have to make sure the Forum gurus have approved you to post your images. You also may have to sign in again on that page too. Now just click on the US Coin Image Gallery on the left side of the Navigation menu. The "Create/Order my albums". It'll walk you throguh the process. Remember to follow all the directions and load 10 pictures at a time. And after uploading you have to individually insert each file into your new album and add whatever file data you want. I've put three albums on there last week. It does take a little time but now everyone can see the coins! Enjoy, my friend!
