This is for a 1908-S Barber half dollar graded AU50. It has a valid cert number in the description but the price is too good to be true.

A $510 PCGS graded coin for only $34.99
no wonder 12 were sold. They probably all have the same cert number.

The coin slab is not shown. The seller must have revised the listing.

It will get removed.

Surprisingly the PCGS coin referenced by the cert number has no image.

Apparently ebay took me seriously this time. "This listing has been removed for a policy violation"

The above photo appears to be from a genuine example as the AU 50 is spot on for grade. The date and mint mark are correct for a genuine example. If the above example is counterfeit, please let me know why.

I suspect the coin in the photo is genuine, but the fact that he had 14 of them to sell suggests that this isn't the coin he would be shipping.

I appreciate the "bird dogging" of these fraudulent sellers ... I got burned recently and luckily learned a valuable lesson for less that $50

Hmmm, that would raise an eyebrow, or 2

1. The possibility of fake slabs. One of three main reasons why none of my coins are slabbed. I can't pick really deceiving fake slabs; I am simply not good enough at it.

2. The slab has to be broken to do authentication investigations:
high magnification microscopy, accurate weight, high voltage electron beam analysis for trace elements that should or should not be there, etc. Very important with coins that are potentially valued in the $thousands.

3. You can't write any information that pertains to the coin on the slab, such as amount and date purchased.
