As far as I know, they did use C3 reverses in some 1901-P Morgans. What else makes this an obvious counterfeit?

I don't have the expertise to voice an opinion regarding its authenticity, but the mint mark area looks a bit sketchy for a Philly coin.

If this is a counterfeit, it has definitely fooled me.

Eager to learn more. At the moment, not convinced it's bogus.

Something about the date, mostly the 9, does not look right.

This was a one look obvious counterfeit coin. No need for a professorial reply. Whoever got it canceled also noticed it was, unfortunately we are in the minority on this one.

C'mon OP. Why is this a one-look counterfeit? Don't just brush us off like this.

Somebody reported it and ebay thought it might be counterfeit. ebay does not employ expert numismatists but I agree the coin looks "off" with mushy details, particularly the obverse devices and numbers. This is a better date and worth $500 or so even in the condition it's in, which is cleaned and damaged above Miss Liberty's eye. I'm glad they took it down because it does appear to be counterfeit.

Quote: Whoever got it canceled also noticed it was Perhaps you're the one who got it canceled and you were wrong? In any case, it's not a one look obvious counterfeit. It's possibly a removed mintmark fake, but impossible to tell for sure with the pics. If you have any specifics on why you thought it was counterfeit, I'm willing to listen.

Is ff22134 the same seller? I didn't note their name before the listing was removed. This should answer your question, fenton: Quote: Located in: Hong Kong, China
