live in Kentucky USA. My Dad passed in 2018 and he was always looking through the magnefying glass checking his coins. I used to save old coins as well. After he passed I didn't even want to look through old coins any more. Life has slowed down now and I made myself combine our collections. I believe that I have found some real gems in there. This 1965 Roosevelt dime appears to have been struck with a penny die. I haven't been able to find that error listed anywhere. So here I am looking for some clarity.

It called a vise job. Your dime and a penny were squeezed together in a vice.

Thank you for the clarity. It does look like the letters in the words "ONE CENT" are depressed. How foolish do I feel?

That's so funny. Dad has been gone a little over 6 years now and he is still smarter than me. I sure do miss him.

No need to feel foolish. We all started off with the same level of knowledge and simply had to learn one step at a time.

in my opinion the only 'foolish' question is the one that is not asked.
It is, after all, how we learn this complicated hobby.

Another way to id 'Vise jobs' is by the impressed letters being backwards (mirrored).

vise job with all the signs shown..someone certainly did this to try and fool people into
thinking it is a mint error. Very common and easy to be fooled by it, until you've seen it before.
