Great! I have this medal. Charles Keck is one of my favorite medalists. But I never paid attention.

Interesting version with kerning. But he wouldn't have had to find a place for the second N, if he had refrained from writing the hyphen in the word.

It turned out that Johnson's databank came to life a little and opened up a little more. And the medal, which according to Stack's Bowers belongs to the hand of Ch. Keck (1923 Spanish-American War 25th Anniversary, New York State Volunteer Soldiers and Sailors Medal), turns out to be made by Allen George Newman (1875-1940).
