okiecoiner -- Yes, vintage cartography reflects many interesting conditions/realities/perceptions at the time. Perhaps a map/cartography numismatic/exonumia topic should be initiated.

Quote: I thought tariffs were paid by companies exporting goods across the borders. Tariffs are paid by the importing party. I bought tax free liquor in Bermuda. When the cruise ship returned to the U.S., our packages were reviewed by a U.S. Customs agent who collected the import duty on the liquor. Granted, that was a duty, but tariffs work essentially the same, just at the port level. That's my civilian understanding of the process, don't be surprised if it's wrong. =P

Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin and Ali Hosseini Khamenei must be laughing their collective heads off."Until the crisis is alleviated, President Donald J. Trump is implementing a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% additional tariff on imports from China. Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10% tariff." . Sorry if I am being too political.

Let's not become political. Keep it at discussing the impact on CCF and coin dealers from Canada.

Quote: Tariffs are paid by the importing party. Ok then, now we're back on track. So how does this effect any coin sales that will travel by mail across the borders?

Interesting issues...
I wonder too about cross border sales of numismatic-related supplies--albums, flips, etc.
And what about grading services?

How is E-Bay and Amazon going to deal with sales with coins if they apply tariffs. Coin sales from the Mint that go into the USA too. Stick with only coins here and time will tell.

ebay already adds taxes when you pay for an item, so I'm sure they'll just add the tariff fee. They know where the seller lives, so if it's Canada and shipping to the US, the buyer will get 25% added to their bill.

I'm sure this will kill my ebay sales if the tariff is applied to numismatics. A lot of my sales go to Canada from USA. May have to close the store or ship to US only. Also, wondering on the impact of tourism from US to Canada. Trip to Calgary RCNA is now in jeopardy.
