I'll guess MS-64.
Errers and Varietys.

Nice coin indeed. I suggest that the minor obverse bag hit under the eye, and the larger on the jaw hold this back to MS64. Beautiful clean fields, and as well struck as you will find for this year.

Tee, thank you for posting that MS66+ which shows how hard it is to get a clean well struck Philadelphia minted 1955 Jefferson. Lots of bag marks! Forget about a full step for anything under a four-figure price tag.

tough crowd! I expected to see this level of grades. I too have been surprised how hard it is to fill this conditional hole in my choice+ matched Jefferson set. There are some 60's and 70's Jeffersons which are near impossible to find fully struck available examples for a decent price as well. Not saying the grading companies should lower their standards but populations are so low for these examples. Here is an PCGS MS66

capitankurt, comparing that MS66 to the 66+ I posted has me thinking the MS66 needs to be lowered or the MS66+ raised

Here is an MS66 I purchased last year from NGC at a 'discount' It has all kinds of stuff under the chin and on both examples the Monticello details are really flat. Bag marks are numerous and plentiful on all nicley graded examples.

I would say MS-65. The marks on the cheek are pretty strong for MS-66.

Pardon my impatience - but why are you showing us all these photos of other certified 1955 Jefferson? It adds nothing IMO to the discussion. You asked us for a grade opinion - we gave it. So ... stop with the comparisons and show us the grade. Thanks

Apologies Nickelsearcher, I thought it was customary to wait 24 hours to reveal the Grade I'm a couple hours late. Here ya go!
