Both are from 1973:
Rim-Crack/Separation-Are-There-Different-Ones?

Rim-Crack/Separation-Are-There-Different-Ones?

I know there's a railroad one, but do "regular cracks" have significance?

Not sure what rim cracks we are supposed to be looking at. Please elaborate and if you provide a whole coin's pic. would be helpful.

Are you talking about the space on the rim? If not then show all of coin and put an arrow to the area in question.

OK I'm thinking a copper cent maybe a wheat back I'll say 51D or 52D.
Now are we looking at a Rim Fin caused by a tilted die and the poster is calling it a crack?
Photo of the entire coin (obverse and reverse) would help emergendentsciouly..

Yes on the rim arc. I have various kinds of cracks or separations if you will. Will post more images. I can't get the whole coin on the microscope I have, but most of the rim stuff is just on part of the coins anyways.

Rim Fin looks more like it in terms of the first image. What about the 2nd image since it doesn't seem as distinct as the first one? Also if you notice there is quite a gap in the rim between the two images as well which is why I thought there were different kinds of cracks or Rim Fins.

@ EML Coin Collector:
Can you please post up the date and mint of this coin? Titles are important and helps in searches later on.

also can you please post up a full coin image?

But for this coin - it appears to look like a Rim Fin.

Here's another one from 1974, but in this case it's an ridge that slopes off:

Rim-Crack/Separation-Are-There-Different-Ones?

From the side it would look like:

--|

instead of the normal Rim Fin being like:

|-|
