Truly, last one. When you think you have a high grade coin, someone comes along and points out things I miss and I truly appreciate that. Before I send this one, what are your opinions?

The question is, does it make MS68 or the top pop at MS69?
Comparing it to the only two MS69's is really difficult with online photos!
No question you have a really awesome coin there! I can't find any flaws. Strike looks solid. It really will come down to eye appeal, luster, and what the 10x magnification under cartwheel lighting looks like.
I can see why you want to take a chance with this one! Good luck! It has to make at least MS68 to make it worth it.
With only 49 graded that high by PCGS that puts your odds at 1 in 13,267,040.8 LOL!
If I had the funds I might go for it with that one tho. Its a really spectacular example.

Thats a beautiful coin.
Photos are a bit small but I can't see any obvious issues.

With the photos, it looks quite good. I'm thinking MS66+, possibly MS67.

Once you get to the 67 and up grades photograding is nearly impossible. It comes down the eye appeal and luster which we really can't see in pictures. This coin is at least a 67 with a shot at 68. Again, I will tell you after extensive experience, PCGS intentionally keeps the populations of it's highest grades down. There is some sort of magic/luck/bribes to getting the top-pops and it seems like us averages Joes have almost no chance. I've been working with another forum member the past 3-4 years. He has submitted around 100+ memorial cents to PCGS. For most of them, he'd send first to me to pair down his choices for the top grades and I'd send the best candidates back. It's been an eye opening exercise for us! We did finally receive back one top-pop, I think it was a 1960D....but others that I was 99% sure to hit the top grade came back a grade lower than we expected. Absolute rigging of populations by PCGS to keep the top grades low!

I'll say MS68+RD which PCGS has just 1 other at this Grade! If it does hit MS69RD that's a $13,000 Penny according to PCGS ValueView!
