I was asked to put together a couple BU sets of War Nickels at the shop last week , and I came across this particular coin. I have found a few circulated 45-P DDR's , and 43/2's - but it is really nice to find a nice Uncirculated variety for once ! I only have the Cherry Pickers for reference and this one does not appear to be listed. The devices are plainly tripled, but the Mint Mark is not triple punched as described in the CPG for the TDR coin- but- there does seem to be some serifs that have what looks like 4 splits...
The Mint Mark pic was to fuzzy, you'll have to trust me that it is not triple punched

Have a look and if anyone can attribute it I would appreciate it !

All letters in these pics show some doubling, some more than others

The U in this pic seems to have 4 splits on the right side, what do you think ?

To me these look tripled . one pretty far spread and a close one that is hard to see, but the U looks tripled on the right top serif

And finally a larger pic of the rev, the Mint Mark does not appear to be doubled or re-punched, hard to see in this pic - but the close up was to blurry.

I would like to thanks those that made posting these pics so much easier ! Thanks !

Looks like a Tripled Die. Nice find!
I found a tripled die on a 1964-D Kennedy half. I bought to fill a hole in my collection. Later looking at it the obverse is tripled with a RPM on the reverse. Two varieties on the same coin for the price of a normal coin.

Wow...nice coin!
Portions of UNUM look tripled to me too--just look at those base serifs.

Nice coin Coop ! I have found a few of the Kennedy errors, and I like the TDO with the RPM, a two-fer ! Best thing about the Kennedy's is that they are usually in the melt bag, and no one looks for them. I just picked a QDO Kennedy two days ago from the melt bag...Life is good !

Ya'll already know what I think. GREAT COIN
You might have a very early strike that could change the book on the 1945 P DDR to a 1945 P TDR.
I am sure Wexler and Ribar would like to see this one. You can get credit for a discovery in the book when they print Vol 3.

This coin has different doubling. It is easy to see that it is not the same when looking at MONTICELLO.

I don't think anyone knows about this one yet. It should go to Wexler or Potter . At least the images should be sent. If you would like me to forward them off to one of those people, let me know.

Email me if you want to look into it. I've never seen nor heard of this one:-)

have Fun,

Nice finds folks! You just can't beat those triples and quadruples! I have seen some nice ones but the serifs on that 1945-P Nickel are awesome.
