I'm trying to help my mom finally earn money with her lifelong coin collecting hobby. We're beginners when it comes to selling and grading and even some basic terms (mostly myself). She's not an expert but has always had an OCD habit of inspecting each coin that entered her hand since childhood and kept unique of funny looking coins. Being new to the whole Coin World, I quickly read up, ordered books, and got a microscope. This is the first coin that interested me and I'm hoping to get some options on what I'm looking at and possible value. I used 2 AI apps that said 1910 and 1914. Not sure as there is no date. It was stamped so hard it has a rim all the way around, and the inside is the depth of a Penny's thickness. *** Edited by Staff to crop/rotate/resize images. @smu, first welcome to CCF. Second it looks to me like you have one half of a Magician's coin. No numismatic value, but a fun find. "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

 to the CCF, Smurfette!  with Spence - your coin was milled down for some reason. I found a similar coin in change once - it was the remnants of a "squirting nickel". It's fun to find these oddities and figure out what they are.  Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I also have several "1/2" Magician Coins that I've found over the decades.
Never have found a "whole" Magician Coin. Weird.

I wouldn't put any faith in those apps they are terribly inaccurate, stick with legit numismatic sources like PCGS, NGC, the Whitman RedBook. |
