This is a first for me! I found this 2010 P Jefferson nickel in my roll from the bank with what appears to be a missing clad on obverse. I did not know that this was possible. I thought it would be both sides but wrong because here it is. Lppk at the pics and let me know your thoughts and regatds to all.

Not a clad coin, just some sort of staining/discoloration of one side. Possibly a cup holder coin.

Right - nickels are an alloy made from 75% copper and 25%nickel.

the coin could have been a Whitman folder, where the reverse was protected, and the obverse got environmental toning

Agree with all. Nickels are solid curpo-nickel, not clad (not solid copper core).

I firmly believe that cupro-nickel wants to tone.

I was mistaken! Went to the hardware store and got a can of acetone. it was a stain. Regards all.
