Good evening everyone!

Got another one I can't figure out! It almost sorta matches a variety, but not quite. Plus there is some other "thing" running down through the center which I have no idea what caused it, and I can't find it searching varieties. I don't see the DDR in the doorway. The "die depression" is MUCH more pronounced on my coin (perhaps stage A vs stage B?)

Any help with all these things will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!!!

I see Die Chip depressions. Not sure what that other thing is.

Did some research and found this. Not saying your coin has this error, but it's interesting. Hubbed In Debris. https://www.error-ref.com/hubbed-in...cuse%20trace.

You could start with Mike Diamond's error-ref.com website. It would also be instructive to read through the last couple pages of entries here on this subforum. Glad you are so open to learning!

Thank You!
Funny thing - I started looking at coins as something to do with my granddaughter - she's "outgrown" it but now I'm obsessed!

My guess is a light, rotated die clash that the mint workers overlooked.

I think makecents is on the right track. That long, vertical dent is common on modern nickel die clashes. So is the swirly blob under the bottom edge of Monticello. Maybe we could get a zoom image of that feature? You should also carefully examine the obverse fields and Jefferson's eyes and upper face for horizontal clash lines.

The left wall looks like a classic beehive or hornet's nest die chip. Not so sure about the right wall. That could be a die depression forming prior to flaking off, or it could be a weird Die Deterioration feature.

If this isn't a clash, big die dents are still known to happen on these nickels.

Don't know what swirly thing you mean. There is a die chip in M and what I guessed is some sort of stain.
Both features on each wall are predominantly flat, with outer edges. I tried getting a couple pics on an angle to better show it.
Thanks

You marked it on an image above. Is it a stain or a surface feature?

With the improved pictures, both walls look to be die depressions which will eventually lead to flakes and "beehive" features.

Brandmeister;
Oh, that! (sorry)
That is bottom of the vertical feature. It's tough to see (and even tougher for me to photograph) but it runs all the way from the rim down to that point.

snailking1, I thought I had dropped these sites for your but went back and looked at your different posts and I had not, I like to give these to folks that I feel are trying to really learn. There is a lot of junk out there on the internet, but all of these are reputable sites that you can count on and learn from. Hope this helps in your future finds and learning.

Thank You!
I've been searching Brian's/VV quite a bit lately. Really kind of overload, but, I'm finding that the more time I spend there, the easier it is to start seeing "things"
I also try to look through many of the posts here - ya'll are amazing at giving your experience/insights!
I think it's something like coin-help-u that I also watch his videos. A little "dry", but he seems to give good information (thoughts on his videos?)
There are a few other people I watch on YouTube, but more for entertainment value rather than much real information!!

Thanks again for the list! I do go back to my previous posts to find the different references/links which I have been given.
With everyone's help, I am slowly starting to see many things which I could not see even two months ago.
That's also why I am trying to give my thoughts when making posts now - rather than just asking "what is this?" - makes me think more when I do it that way!
