OOPS!!!

It's been pointed out to me that I missed the obvious - the reverse was like this prior to 2006!!!!!
As I continue this learning adventure, I find myself looking for smaller details than when I started (not very long ago!)
However, I certainly "missed the forest for the trees" on this one!
Oh well, if I didn't learn through my mistakes, I'd've probably never learned much of anything!

Hello!
Here's a crazy looking reverse.
Is this just an insane MD?
I don't see any DDR's for 1999P on Brian's or VV
Only the building seems to be affected.
Thoughts? Can Mechanical Doubling really be this extreme?
Thank You

Kinda figured probably MD, but it's so extreme, and only affecting the building!

I did not pick out any particular type of Machine Doubling in the link, you should read them all, as there are several types. You can also have "isolated Machine Doubling" that only affects one small and confined area, such as a mint mark.

Every time I think I find something - I find I have more reading to do.
Guess I better stop posting things until I catch up on the suggested readings

Post away! You can do both at the same time, post and learn. Just remember, when you are done learning, whatever it may be, then you are ready to die.... Keep learning, everyday! I do.

Nice example of Machine Doubling. You could keep it for future references.

The melty stuff above the wording seems to be Die Deterioration Doubling. The Monticello building looks normal. 1999 is a different reverse from 2006+. On that earlier reverse design, the triangle, windows, and doorways are formed by the outlines being indented into the metal. For 2006+, those same features are formed from raised metal.

OOPS!!!!!
Guess I gotta laugh at myself on that one!
I looked at other nickels to compare, but obviously, they must've all been later than 2006
Oh well - another lesson learned!
Thank You

It's completely understandable. That question has come up a few times just in the couple years since I joined CCF. =)
