Hi all!
I'm new to this so please be kind!
I have a 1968 Silver Half Dollar w/ Weird Stray Hair. Its the higher silver content, dirty, but you can still see the lines pretty good, and has a strange left to right stray hair.
Is this a unicorn or am I just seeing things?
If someone could help - I'd appreciate it!
Thank you in advance.

I see the raised line you are referring to.
Can you provide a nice, clear closeup of it?
In this situation, raised lines tend to be one of two things:
a die crack or PSD (Post Strike Damage).

I don't see it as a die crack.
There seems to be a small, shallow depression below the line. T
IMHO, this would point to PSD.

Is PSD a good thing? or a bad thing?
I'll take some more photos to see if I can get some better ones.

@kbug, first welcome to CCF. Second, you will see that we use a lot of jargon here. PSD = post-strike damage and damage to a coin virtually never adds to the value.

The mark is part of the coin. At first I just thought it was a scratch or something but its part of it. This is also one of the coins with higher silver content.

Yes the mark is part of the coin, but not part of the design. The coin has been damaged and some metal has been "smooshed" up to make that short ridge. With that said, yes this is still a keeper due to the intrinsic value of the silver.

To CCF! I agree with the above comments. It's silver though, so it's still a keeper.

Unfortunatly it looks like raised metal from some kind of hit to the coin. 1968 Kennedy halves are 40% silver so your coin is at least worth $5.63 because of the silver content. That is why the rim is silver colored - it is an alloy of 40% Silver and 60% copper.

From your 4th photo...leads me to believe it's a light bag mark.
