I found a few albums/folders that I thought had been stolen. These coins were from when I starting collecting coins as a 12yr old kid in the early 80's. V nickels are in an old Dansco folder, they have a date but very slick on details. Buffalo nickels and Mercury dimes are in a Harco Coinmaster album. I'll need to get them in a proper album, but I'm quite pleased to have found them.

Here are pics of the pages...

That must have been a very nice moment when you found these albums.

So are you going to leave them as is, or are you going to try to fill them up?

I think I'm going to get different albums for them since I'm not sure what kind of plastic those are made of and start to fill the holes.

Great fun to 'find' these after assuming they were gone.

Good call. I'm reasonably sure based on the year you collected them that these are PVC.

Bend them and find them really flexible and you'll know for sure.

Get your coins out of them, inspect for any PVC residue and clean it off if found with a soak in 100% acetone.

The pages are flexible but the inserts the coins slip into are more brittle. It would probably crack if tired to fold them over.

Reuniting with a long 'lost' collection is fabulous!

This was my very first thought--I'd take all the coins out of these pages and soak them in acetone before putting them either in a new album or else 2x2s.

Did you check to see if that 1912-D V nickel is indeed a "D" mintmark?

How long should I soak them in acetone?

@sap provided pretty good guidance a few years back:

Nothing better than finding something that's been missing. I had the unfortunate event of a family member stealing my guns & baseball memorabilia, while I was away at college. I had left my coin collection with my father, thank God! Now you have to pick up where you left off SeaMonkey.
Good luck & happy hunting!

Now I need to decide on what albums. I know Dancso is popular on here. I do like the look of the blue Whitman contrast with the silver color of the coins but I worry about their durability. Whitman does make a new Prestige album in black that looks good and comes with a slipcase but they are about $70 ($56 with coupon I found) and unknown how long they will last. Dancso has a proven track record that would probably out last me just not sure about the beige color.
