I was looking for the flared G on the FG and noticed something I do not understand. There is an apparent "C" or part of an "O" or "9" or something right above and to the left of the F. It is almost flat to the field or maybe very slightly raised. Difficult to tell for sure. Anyone have any idea what this is? Thanks fr your assistance.

Looks to me like it's probably from zinc rot.

Thanks snailking1. Just seems to be too perfectly shaped to be random. But you may be right.

Because of the surface discoloration, I think that the snail is right. However, it could instead be a little, c-shaped bit of debris trapped under the plating.

I'm with the zinc rot group.
Looks like small bubble that burst exposing the zinc core.
Whatever the cause, it is damage.
