This has always been a tough die to find, and can get some crazy prices in top grades. I just sold off one in PCGS 65RD back in April and it went $776 on Great Collections. Worth hunting for. Found this one a couple days ago. 1968-D Lincoln Memorial cent doubled die - DDR-001, FS-801

Nice split serifs/separations. I can see how that could be easily overlooked without higher magnification,

It's always a little shocking to see what even a subtle CPG copper cent can achieve at auction. A neat variety coin, and excellent photos as always. =)

Thanks for all the kind words! Happy to get a chance to post a few things again.
As for the Coppercoins value at $450 in MS65, that's probably pretty close. While quite rare the actual population of these graded is strong enough that most of the older registry collectors would have one. But I follow the auctions fairly closely and don't think any have come up for quite a while. Likely some new registry collectors saw an opportunity and didn't want to wait another few years before another one showed up. The only reason I sold that one was I that I already have a 65 and don't need two of them. Building a registry set is expensive and I've sold off a lot of doubles as well as a lot of the better coins of other denominations I've collected.
