I have a 1943-D steelie that looks like it might be a D/D but I can't seem to find a reference that matches. Any ideas?

I'm on team DDD with this one too. Wasn't there something about striking steel planchets that caused the dies to wear out much more quickly than when they were used to strike copper ones?

Definitely Die Deterioration if you are speaking of the area to the east of the mm, no RPM.

I think you are correct, this seems to be MUCH more commom on steel cents.
