Trying to make sense of what is going on with this IHC. Lower reverse has a very pronounced field elevation shift at 0600. There are also indications of a rim to rim die crack forming.

I can't fathom how a corrupted die could produce this effect while still maintaining the level of detail that exists. Any input appreciated.

I have no idea, DOCC, but that is a really fine coin!

Thanks Hondo. Thinking about it more after I posted, I have to assume it is simply just a flawed planchet. Only logical explanation.

Very nice looking IHC! It has no bearing on the anomaly you have inquired about, but it also has a clash on the reverse.

Quote:
with that die crack, maybe a bit of partial die movement

Might be on to something. Lateral break but not fully off - space underneath fills with grease and causes elevation deviation. Plausible I guess.

Thx MakeCents - had not noticed and honestly, I'm always looking for those clashed IHCs
