I have avoided buying red uncirculated wheat cents because I am afraid they will turn green or lose their luster and value. What is the safest, best storage to protect uncirculated cents without sending them off to be graded and slabbed? I recently developed an interest in collecting them.

For added protection, keep everything in a container with a desiccant like silica gel and avoid extreme temperatures.

[jbuck] I read those threads that your link directed us to.. Question, how do these guys enjoy looking at their coins if you need to go and open an Armoured safe, Tupperware container, Ziplock bags, Binder pages to pull out a coin that's encased in an "Air-Tite"? . . . . . . . . . . . . . Don't get upset, guys, I'm just joking!

The journey and the destination. You kid, sure, but it is a good question... Form some, when it is too easy to look at them all the time, you will look at them all the time, and then they might lose their appeal over time (law of diminishing returns). Making it a process forces one to have quality viewing time over quantity.

Oh my! What you need to do is create some sort of puzzle. Maybe a grand one like from ST:TNG's "The Chase" or, better yet, the final season of ST:DIS.

I keep mine in a Dansco album with the additional slipcase. Then the albums go into a ziplock bag with a desiccant pack and that then goes into my safe with more desiccant packs.

From my own personal experience I use two methods. Adhesive style 2x2's which are inexpensive and space saving, or Air-tite holders stored in Caps album pages. The latter gets expensive, but much safer long term. Either way, I've had no signs of significant change.
