Found a Cheerios cent in an old box. Is it ever worth it to leave these in the original packaging? Various Internet articles (which are possibly useless) claim that around 10% of these coins will be the Wide AM. Edited by Brandmeister 11/18/2025 3:54 pm

I have one as well. It was passed down to me by my papa. If it was me, I'd leave it in the original packaging.
Errers and Varietys.

Some additional web searching turned up this Facebook post, where a commenter claims that no Wide AM cent has ever been found in the Cheerios packaging. Hmph, no FB posts allowed.

Just me, I'd keep it in the packaging.

If they aren't in the package then don't they look just like any other 2000 cent?

Well, if it can't possibly be a Wide AM, then I suppose I will keep it in the packaging. Thanks, guys! =)

Quote: If they aren't in the package then don't they look just like any other 2000 cent? Yup! But if you want it out of the package, your only option is to send it in (still in the package) to get it graded and labeled as a Cheerio cent.
