Sometimes things come out looking better than the normal. A combination of thin clad, toning, exposed copper and touch of copper corrosion.

Or it could be just me.

@tex, yeah I'm not completely sure about your diagnosis here either. Couldn't it all be just surface staining and corrosion?

There are a few reasons for my assessment. Most obviously, I'm able to hold it and look at it in a way that images have a hard time capturing. Also, the obverse is nice, shows no issues

The edge also shows it, the clad layer is heavily favoring the obverse.

That is just an artifact from how the layers "bleed" when they blanks are punched. You will see this a lot.

from the edge picture it looks like the copper has been eaten away.
It spent some time in a sewage treatment plant of some other harsh environment. This would be consistent with the crappy corroded surface.
