$67. #7 of 40 acquired recently. Recently I purchased 40 slabbed Morgan dollars (36 ANACS, 3 PCGS and 1 ICG) and will post one a day alongside one Peace dollar. I paid an average of $67 for the 40 coins. This time I will post the grade of the coin 2 days after and this time we can compare our grades with those of TPGs. Thoughts? Thanks!

The nose ding and the hard contacts on the cheek make this one MS-62 for me. It's a decent coin for the grade, with a better strike than many, but subdued luster like most of this date. I'm seeing a lot of small die cracks on this coin, so be sure to VAM it.

average strike of the year. broken luster in areas. I think its UNC.
so I'm at a low end MS63

This one was graded a gem, MS65 by ICG. I think this one is MS64. Not quite gem because of the chatter in the obverse fields but the cheek is pretty clean. Paid $100 for it so not really the MS65 price. I like it as a 4. Not sure how folks are getting to 62.

Agree, not a 62. As a buyer, it would be a 63 to me. The hit directly on the tip of the nose looks deep and is distracting to me.

MS62 is too low for this coin, however, with the broken luster on the obv, blotchy toning affecting eye appeal and number of marks, scratches and scuffs I can see it at MS64. I can see the reverse at 64 but they tend to be better side in most cases and I add more weight to the obv. there isn't much price difference between 63 and 64 just a few dollars so its not that big a deal.

To me, the railroad track edge knock from the lips to the hair, the dings on the nose, and the amount of small chatter in the obverse fields hold this one back from MS-63. The reverse is better, and would make MS-63+/64. I'm still at a bourse floor MS-62. I can't look past the obverse knocks. They are in the wrong places and just too obvious, and the selection pool for this date is pretty deep. JMHO, and that and fifty cents may buy a half cup of day old gas station coffee.

With the new photos, I would pay MS-64 money for it.

I think ICG holders add a touch of class for common-date uncs, but I might question this grade. Just a bit too much light chatter.
