Another impulse buy from local coin shop last year. Does like a genuine Morgan VF grade?

VF sounds about right. Nice purchase. It looks real to me.

Looks good to me, and that's a fair grade. Nice acquisition!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

My grandfather instilled a deep fondness for CC Morgan dollars. Had no quibbling on price, coin shop owner offer a price and I gladly accepted. Likely paid a little more than many would, anyone care to guess how much I paid?

That's a nice looking well circulated example. I'd say VF20 at a price of $300.

Looks OK to me.
To further confirm, with currently high silver prices, weight it, and comparative ping tone it, and closely compare mint marks with known genuine at 20X + magnification. Do your research on the various ways that mint marks can be faked.
There is currently much greater temptation to produce fakes of CC silver coins.

Good advice about mint marks. I looked at several 1880 CC 'S and they are all pretty much like the one displayed here. Agree VF

Nice VF-20. It has even wear and a great surface for the grade. Nice coin.

Great info on VAM website, I'm behind the powerball on VAM's, likely to disappear into that VAM rabbit-hole now.

Agree with a VF-20 grade. Strong eye appeal and excellent surfaces. A nice circulated 1880-CC Morgan is probably much harder to find than an MS example. $275 or so would have been a good deal.

Local coin dealer asked $270 and I didn't hesitate. Considering that was last summer I'd likely pony up 10% more for it today.
She'll stay in an airtight forever!
