I just received a mint proof set in the penny has a mock on it, which is not on the glass, but it's on the penny is just considered an error. Please feel free and let me know. Thank you.

To CCF! It looks like a stain, dirty fingerprint, or something on the coin.

Not an error, just damage of some sort.
Exactly what doesn't really matter.

@mrg, thx for posting. Can you please tell us what year this mint cent is? I'd like to add that information to the thread title? Thx.

Tarnish/toning - not an error. Not liking it though - I'd return it.

I'd be very unhappy with that, I agree with returning it if possible.

Yes, sorry, but "stains" don't count as a mint error. Looks like a smudged fingerprint to me, but that's beside the point. It might have happened in the mint, it might have happened if someone opened up the mint set and handled the coin. Since it might have happened after the coin was released from the mint and there's no real way to prove it one way or the other, it doesn't count as a mint error.

Sorry, but the coin now qualifies as an "impaired proof".

@Spence, this would be a 1979 proof set.
Looks like Sap added it
