So, my current bank box is the dirtiest, nastiest box I've ever gone through (I am more than halfway through, and I still have not found a single penny earlier than 1982)! But that hasn't stopped me.
This has all sorts of things going on!
The penny is slightly thicker than other pennies I compared it to - giving the appearance that the coin is set deeper within the rim wall. The weight is normal: 251 gr
A Greaser. Obviously, predominantly on the obverse, but does have some on the reverse as well.
A spiked head.
An RIDB. (The spiked head crack appears separate from the crack which runs from just above Lincoln's head, down to his chin.)
And, possibly a DDR? I have seen posts of wheat cents having elongated DOTS which are considered doubling. What are your thoughts on the horizontally elongated dots on the reverse?
Thanks!
First pic is this coin
Second pic is a comparison coin
Third pic, this coin is on the left.

Very cool, a lot happening with this coin! Nice Greaser and spike head, I don't think what you have on the forehead is large enough for an RIDB. I think it may have spent a little time in the dryer too, the thickness. The dots on the reverse are just distorted from grease I would say, not seeing anything else to make me think a DDR.

Copy That!

Wouldn't the edges of the rim be deformed if it was a Dryer Coin? It seems quite crisp all the way around, both sides.

OK - Thanks. That was the only thing I was looking at there.

If not an early stage Dryer Coin, possibly previously encased.

nice Greaser, and as for the DDR, I agree that it is not - the dots are just distorted as makecents stated, usually with DDR, the dots will present like tiny 'snowmen'
