I just talk to one of the local dealer at the coin club I go to. He said he buys ASE about .50 above spot. also he was buy 90 silver at 10x spot. So he was buying 1/2 dollar at 5.00 each. He did say he can't hardly keep silver in his shop. Just like terry said no one is selling.

APMEX has been faxing stuff to us for months. I don't know who they are, but I don't like fax spam any more than I like email spam. As a result, I haven't looked at their site.

Fax span is alot worse than email spam in my opinion because they are costing you money with the paper the fax is printed on and causing the land fill to fill up because of trash, you can atleast just delete email spam and dont have a hard copy of it still laying around

Question from a newbie with Silver Eagles and Silver proof sets ...
Should I not look at selling them now because the price of silver is going up, up, up ?

rbachman, Is your main want to make some money, or to collect? I was buying scrap 90% silver in hopes of making some money. I bought them for around 6 times face, sold for 8.5 times face. I thought the market was still going to go higher, but I made some money (better than interest in the bank) so I was happy. The silver eagle set I have is for collector reason, and I doubt I will let them go unless it gets to $30/ounce.
These are just my views on it, Jordan

some people that bought at 6.00 an ounce are selling and some people that bought at 9.00 an ounce are keeping them. I guess its just according to if you think you have made enough money out of your purchases to when its time to sell. Nobody is going to give you a streight answer on this question because nobody knows what the market is going to do, they may tell you not to sell and then the market crash the next five minutes. So you have to say to yourself "is the money I would make now enough, or do I think it will go higher and I can make more money down the road". You also have to remember not to be greedy because thats how alot of people loose their shirt in the stock market, you have to think up a price that you will sell at and when it reaches that point, sell. I know thats what alot of people are doing, they have a set price that they are willing to sell their bullion at and they will not sell until it reaches that price, but once it reaches that price they sell and live with their decision no matter how high it goes or how low (of course they wouldnt regret it if it went lower because they made the most possible, but that is the challenge of the game, when to sell and when to hold on to it). I know this hasnt been much help but thats about the only advice I can give you on "your" silver

I agree with Jordon. that if you are doing it as a investment then it when you feel the price is right and don't what for others to start selling, but if you have your eagles for collecting then hold on to them. I as well have a whole set of ASE but I don't ever planing on selling it, But I have sold my extras here and there to buy other coins or set I like. I bought 5 a when littleton was selling them for 8.95 to turn around and sell for a little extra money. so it is really depend on the reason you have these coins. So if there are other coins you like and what to sell your silver to do that then I say when it hit 15.00 dollar you sell and buy some new coins.Just my opion

Thats what I was hoping for... I'd like to see it come down to about $8, then I will stock back up and hang on for the ride.

jdheyne you can forget $8 silver any time in the near future! It would be more accurate to pray for $10 to $12 silver and that is probably gone as well. I am still buying as the coins I bought just last weekend have already made me money (if I would sell) but I prefer to look at silver as my own little private 401K but like to use the term 401S!
