I had bought on ebay 5 rolls of wheat cents. The package arrived today. But there were no coins as the package (bubble mailer) had a hole in it! I am out $24.95! I would have thought a box would have been better suited for that many coin rolls and not a bubble mailer! I didn't purchase any insurance. Never would have dreamed I would ever need it. I have just mailed the seller explaining the situation so I have to wait and see what will happen. I'm not sure what coverage I have as I used PayPal for this purchase. Waaaah!!! :( :( David

I always pay the extra dollar or so for insurance no matter what I buy because some postal employees have sticky fingers like in every other type of job

I feel so devestated. It's a terrible feeling. Generally I only get insurance for something valuable, $50 or more.

I understand the feeling and I hope there is something that can be done for you but either way someone will have to eat the cost, either you or the seller. And if you didnt pay for insurance, I dont know if its the sellers responsibility to eat the cost myself. I know thats not what you want to hear and definately not meant as anything against you just stating my opinion

I'm not sure if PayPals Buyer/Seller protection would cover such a loss. The seller should have used a free priority mail box and not a bubble mailer for something heavy like rolled coins.

Just curious, nds, which seller on ebay is this? I'd like to take a look at his/her feedback to see if this has occurred previously, with other buyers....

The seller has 100% positive feedback. Here is the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Rolls-of-Un...cmdZViewItemquote: Originally posted by RealtorInWi

Were these coins in a priority envelope ?
His auction clearly states that 5 rolls or more will receive priority shipping.
also, I'm afraid that I dont buy the auction as 100% accurate, who doesn't have the time to find better than a 1000.00 worth of wheat cents in the three coins that are listed as positively being there ,in this thousands of coin collection kept in boxes in the basement ?
My guess is that you lost 5 rolls of 40 and 50's with maybe a few 20 or thirties mixed in.. the big loss is the 25.00.

scoutjim, that's a fake PayPal/Ebay website. If indeed it sends you to 'PayPal' or ' ebay'. I've received numerous fake emails like this--the best thing to do is forward it to spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com If you run your pointer over the link to Ebay/PayPal, or even click on it, the actual address of the website displayed most likely will NOT be the correct one. Run, run as fast as you can! And don't click on ANY of it! [:0]

exactly what it is, its call phishing. they are out there sending them emails to everyone trying to hijack their ebay accounts to sell fictious products under someones good name. forward that email to spoof@ebay.com and they will take care of it

Nope, they weren't in a priority envelope. Just a regular padded envelope. I just wanted some of these rolls to fill some holes. I really didn't care about the dates. I know that I wasn't going to find anything valuable. quote: Originally posted by Metalman

i dont think they have to be in a "priority" envelope. he just states he would send them "priority" not that he would be sending 5 or more in a priority box/envelope. So if he sent them "priority" he did what he said he would do, the package has nothing to do with the service he sent the package with. You can send a regular lick and stick envelope priority mail

Have you heard back from the seller ?
Im curious to see what happens with this situation,, I'm of the mind that the seller should replace the cent rolls,, but hey thats just me !!
My point above about the shipping is if the seller did not ship the rolls priority (no matter the envelope type) then he did not do as stated in the auction!!

If the seller would have shipped in the free priority box the Post Office offers, this wouldn't have been a problem. I have been selling and buying on ebay for some time and my feedback is 100% positive. I strive to make sure all my buyers are completely satisfied, even if it costs me a little extra.

Here are a couple photo's of the package. I would tend to agree a good seller would make things right. Customer service should be a priority.
