Trust me, if you guys saw how I'm taking my photos, you would freak! In short, an inexpensive digital camera, a strange adjustable arm lamp, and a microscope. oh yeah, and a pain in the neck from doing it. I dont have a macro is what I'm trying to say.
So, my photos dont always look as the actual coin to the eye.
So, in response to your response, I changed my technique a bit for these picts. they are a bit more realistic. see if they change your annalasis at all. Any suggestions on improving my picts.
Im trying to show the difference between the way the coin actualy look, as apposed to the way that is changed by the camera using the letter "R". Also, note the mint mark width to the East.

Hi Joe;

First, Please don't quit- sooner or later you will find a valid DDO or DDR, but unfortunately this 1995 quarter is not one.

Its a badly worn quarter (IMHO)

If you havn't done so already, I suggest you read Chuck's post on doubling.

It will give you an excellent idea of what to look for and how to tell the difference.

Good luck!

Looks like a worn die to me, but I am not an expert.

Definitely Die Deterioration Doubling. Please read and re-read the thread I started in this forum regarding the difference between hub doubling and Machine Doubling. This coin exhibits the classic signs of Machine Doubling.

Please don't give up though. It'll will all the more better when you do find something. It's like metal detecting you have to dig up a whole lot of junk before you find the treasure.

Hi,

Yep the classic look of the results of Die Deterioration on a struck coin.

Thanks,
Bill
