Could we possibly have a section on the left side of the screen for abbreviations (similar to glossary). Some abbreviations are covered in the glossary, but I'm sure it could be expanded. It would certainly help new people (like me).

i.e. SBA, Ike, RAM

What do you think.

Steve
sometimes the terms are not listed such as RAM=
Royal Australian Mint.
would not expect to see that on an American site.

If you have others that are not listed please post them and one of us will try to assist you.

I think it's a good idea, I could put a link in the left hand column which would open a pop-up window with all the abbreviations.

We could start a list here and when we get a bunch of them I'll throw it together.

Thanks for the great link, Mike.

rggoodie, this is not just for me, I think there must be other new people in this forum, from all over the world, that don't know what some of these abbreviations mean.

Bobby, maybe you could move this thread to the main forum for more exposure, so we can gather more abbreviations.

Thanks

Steve.

VAM, ANACS, ASE, ICGS, PCGS, NGC,
COA, PNC, DCAM, MSNS.

These are just a few that I have seen and although I am aware of the meaning of some of them. others I don't have a clue!

Thanks Bobby

NDGOFLO would really be a hard character to explain!!! I would assume the ND would stand for Notre Dame University and HE is a forum member from the state of Indiana! Great guy to trade with but NOT a numismatic term! Just another Hoosier hooked on coin collecting and he does have a GREAT first name!!!

Taking the abbreviations out of this thread and adding some of my own, I have a list of 45 that I will give to Bobby to upload. I am interested in getting as many of the international abbreviations in there as possible. Most of the ones that I know are US and we have an international forum. I'd like all members to be able to use this equally. Please keep posting as many as you can think of.

DMPL = Deep Mirror Proof Like. Definately does not describe the condition of most of my coins in my collection!
