In doing a little investigating on the series, it seems to offer good value in the Fine to EF range. What do y'all think about current prices?

A Seated half dime Set would be quite an accomplishment, difficult to find coins with 10-18k mintages plue hard on the pocket for rare dates. If you decide to tackle the challence keep us updated and as always

Most should be obtainable in the VG-F range however, there are some very low mintage pieces out there. Keep us posted in your quest

I agree there is good value in this series, with many scarce dates available in higher circulated grades at reasonable cost. Half Dimes have not achieved the popularity of some other series which means demand is fairly low. Prices have not appreciated as much as for more popular series. Unless demand increases I wouldn't look for big price gains for Seated half dimes, except possibly in high MS grades.

I've spent some time studying the series, too, and have a few around. Moderate prices for relative rarity is an attraction. Look out for damage. There are lots of bent, warped, dented, weakly struck and scratched coins. These coins seem to have seen more than normal use as screwdrivers and shims. Start carrying a magnifying glass or loupe all the time. The small size is one of the things that keeps me from getting more of them. And dealers love to overgrade them, especially the "Fine" which has no letters visible on shield.

I saw an 1846 not long ago in a shop. The dealer wanted $225 for it in VG but the field had been damaged either by corrosion or graffiti. It was nice to see one anyway.
