Well last week I took $2,300 dollars in State Quarter rolls to the bank. Now today I got $600.00 of president dollars in a box to take Monday to the bank. I need room in my safe and I figure these will never be worth anything. I still have a tons roof sets of all the State Quarters and a couple full State Quarter albums.

With that many coins, your safe is bigger than my room...

2300 * 4 = 9200. 9200 at 6g (approx) = 57 Kilos.
Nice bit of exercise there.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to get 2 grand worth to the bank. My back hurts. One time I dragged a 2 wheeler dolly into the bank. Got some interesting looks :)That will work again.

They were all Bank Rolls I hae collected since around 2000 uncirculated nice new shinny State Quarters. Yesterday I did the same with the president dollars had $ 647.00 of these. Made more room in the safe now. I made up my mind already I will not start getting rolls of the National Parks I am sure these will be just like the State Quarters and millions of each will be issued we will see. I still have three complete sets of the State Quarter proof's and three of the silvers also extras. I did also but all the 1st day covers from the start have them in albums probably was a mistale only time will tell guess the kidscan fight over them as I ony have one set. I do have some extra ones may try and sell them once the National Park quarters start. I kept about four complete State Quarter sets in albums for the kids or grand kids. Now the National Park series will be interesting as I understand there will be a 3 ounce silver bullion of each Hmmmmm may decide to get them depending of the cost over spot. I have been lucky enough to have been to all the National Parks now except Denali in Alaska. Buying my RV in 2002 was the best thing I ever did. Leaving for Cross SC Friday around 11am I hope will be at Black's Fish Camp in Cross SC.

Wow you really must visit Denali. Went there once with my parents in the spring - absolutely amazing.
That being said, there is no way I actively collect these new quarters...

Wow ..talk about a missed opportunity. You could have received way more than face value for a lot of those State Quarter rolls...but it's only money ...ROF LMF AO

People are paying double face for the rolls. I think I would have sold them that way. Might take a bit longer, but to double my money? Definitely worth it. By the way, the same thing applies to the Presidential dollars!

I really know how you feel. Way back when the Bicentennial Quarters came out myself and a friend had sort of a compition colleting them. Many, many rolls of uncirc ones too. I ended up with several hundred dollars worth and he had way over a thousand dollars worth. Not long ago at a few coin shows I asked what I could get for those. My only and best offer was $0.24 each. That was a dealer's expression on explaining what they were worth. We both ended up doing what you did and dumped all in a bank. What a waste of time and loss of interest if that same money was in a regular savings account. Even would have been better to invest in just normal, everyday coins for my Albums. At least better than those buying Beanie Babies.

Brucec....I came to that same decision this last summer.......I got rid of my State Qtr. "Hoard".....I had my P & D album and my D album, and I have my complete Proof Set (not silver....only a few of those). But, like you, they were taking up too much room ! I've still saved some rolls ....not quite 1 each of each state, but something like that. I only got the First Day Coin Covers of the key states (or at least at "that" time they were key states) and I will keep those. Got a few individual uncirc. biz strike St. Qtr. things too.... I also got rid of my Presidential dollar rolls (except 1 each of the first year) I do want to continue to get the Pres. Proof Set each year to, one day, put them all into a nice album.....but I no longer collect each "roll" of these.....just a few singles to throw in a couple of albums each time they come out....just for fun. And, like you and so many others...... I HAVE ZERO INTENTION ON COLLECTING THE "PARKS QTRS." WITH THE SAME VIGOR ! I'll get em' one way or another with the yearly 2010 Silver Proof Sets, and Proof Sets that I'll continue to order, but I will not seek out these new qtrs. at all to collect in a similar fashion. It's possible that I'll do the circulated "thumb print, push-in folders" for my nephew and my soon to be step-daughter....but dunno yet. And ....... I "HAVE" been to Denali ! ........but only Yellowstone, State parks out "West".......and just a little "east of Kansas" for the few other places I've been. I'm jealous of your "well travelled" itinerary ! But......yeah....in the long run....I agree with your decision to "dump" the St. qtrs........and did the same thing.
