I bought few dimes from Jack Beymer before and they're pretty nice and accurately graded. But prices seems to be a bit higher than average. Has anyone purchased from him before and if you have what's your intake? Lately I haven't been able to attend any coin shows due to time limitation which I doubt would change in the near future. So its been hard for me to acquire new coins for the set. ebay is great but a single seller doesn't have all the years and grades I want and then I have to pay shipping every time. So due these difficulties I'll probably be buying most of the coins online but would prefer to stick to couple of trusted dealers. I know HJB is good but they mostly get lower grades. JJteaparty is good too, how fair is their prices? Specially compared to Jack Beymer? Thank you. |

I am anxious to hear from people who have dealt with him, I have not but he seems to have Alot of coins in stock.

Never dealt with most of those dealers at all except HJB and really agree with you there. Mostly cleaned ones too and if you go there in person, you get treated like, can't say here. The only dealer I've ever purchased from on line was someone called VC coins or something like that and they were OK but nothing great either. I purchase most of my coins from coin shows, flea markets, garage/yard/estate sales. Presently have over 3,000 Mercury dimes. Ond of my all time favoriet coins. When you mention overpriced, does that include postage, handling, insurances? Most people do not include that and the prices then end up much higher than they admit. |

Their s/h is about $4-$5 I think and if you purchase over $100 its free s/h.
I wish I can attach a price list but can't. I wouldn't say they're exactly overpriced but rather high end. Sounds a bit confusing, I know, that's why I was hoping someone else can shed some light regarding his pricing.

I sort of forgot I've also purchased coin from a place called Miller's Mint an internet dealer. Great service, fantastic catalog, nice coins but prices too, a little high.

I bought one coin from Jack Beymer and was quite pleased with it and I think the grading was accurate. I would agree his catalog prices seem a bit high in general, but if he had the coin I wanted at the price I was willing to pay I would not hesitate to order. You could always try calling to negotiate a better price for a specific coin.
The two coins I purchased from JJ Teaparty were very nice and the prices were good. I browse their inventory regularly. I've also purchased a few items from Alpine Numismatics and was satisfied.

I have used Millers also, not the cheapest but the grades were good for sight unseen coins. Don't know that the shipping was.

Kind of to bad not being able to attend a coin show lately. Really can't beat being able to see the actual coin, being able to haggle about the prices, getting to know people, no postage, no handling prices, no insurance prices and no lost in the mail stories either.
We have 4 shows a Month within 15 miles of my house. Just came back from one yesterday and really had fun, met people, got some great deals. Really sorry you can't make it to them.

There is another post called need suggestions from members. A person has a coin web site and if you go there you would see examples of Mercury dimes that too are on the high side of prices. |

I know, its best to look at the coin before purchase. But these days everyone's so busy, weekend is the only family time we have and my DD hates car rides. Its not going to be like this forever but till then I'll have to take things slow.
I will probably place a small order with him as soon as I figure out which ones I need.

There is a Millers Mint here on Long Island, IMO, they are great.  I have dealt with "Hal" and the coins are plentiful, and very nice grades, the people are very "collector friendly", I have spent a small fortune there and always walk away very pleased, if this is the place everyone is speaking about.....  . A great shop to visit, learn, shop, and you are always welcome..... |

I've used Golden Eagle and W.S., and both seem to be fair graders, and if you look around you can get deals. I used to like APMEX, but they are quitting the numismatics business, sticking to bullion. |

I havent used Beymer before. I have purchased some franklins from Mt. Lassen coins (online). I have had a good experience there and fair prices.

He has a listing of Mercury dimes in this weeks Coin World mag. You can take a look at the prices. Also I've been thinking, is there any point of paying a premium for an AU58FB over an AU58? I know FB is worth having on a mint state coins. |
