Just because we all like to look at coin pictures, please post one of your Braided Hair Large Cents (1839-1857). (Please post a picture of both sides , if possible.) Post a pretty one, a gnarly one, a light one, or a dark one. We don't care! We just want to see your coins! To start us off: 1845 Large Cent

This was an early Teletrade purchase, back when I could still get nice deals from that venue. It's the large date (N-1) variety. it has some softness on part of the wreath, but I like it just fine!

Quote: Very clean, sharp detail! Is this a nice strike on this series? Actually, this coin type is not uncommon to find in nice condition. It seems a lot of people didn't like them due to their size and weight. The copper took nice strikes and the technology had caught up to and corrected many of the problems the U.S. Mint had been having. The Braided Hair series was certainly some of the better minted Large Cents. It's great series to collect! And by the way! Nice coins, posted folks! (SWEET key coin for the series, Jaobler! Beautiful! ) Here's another! 1840 Large Cent:

Well, since everyone else is posting actual nice ones, and you asked for even the poor gnarlys...here's my one and only: I still love her even if she's not perfect...I'm not either

I purchased this from Tom Reynolds at the Long Beach Coin Expo a few years back. Although not the prettiest coin, he graded a G4 and I agree, it holds a special place in my collection. 1847, 7 over "small 7"
