There is something dramatically wrong with this add. Many of the coins in those sets would be in a similar price range alone. For example the 1856 Flying Eagle in MS grade. 1922 Lincoln Cent in MS grade. Then too just look down the listings on any coin price list for Walker halves in MS grades. Many, many of them are also in the thousands. Either the seller is nuts, it's all a lie, stolen coins, fakes or something. It just doesn't make CENTS.

Folks I am here to tell you that this kind of collection is NOT as hard to build as you might think. A majority of it is also not very expensive when done right. The mint and proof sets will cost you less than $2000 (and that includes the silver proof sets) which gives you most everything from 1963 to 2009 which builds several of those books listed. Most Morgans can be had for less than $35.00 each so a few thousand buys most of that collection. A nice Franklin set is around $500.00. The Lincoln Cent book less than $1,000 (including almost all the key dates) or $500.00 with only a few key dates and the remaining coins will mostly grade at ef and au for this price. A mostly complete set without key dates in g4-ef can be had for $150.00. The silver eagle set maybe $1,200 including proofs. The Mercury dime set $1000.00 in ex to au without the 1916D. Walking Liberty half set maybe $1,500. Roosevelt dimes $400.00 including silver and proofs (not a popular coin to collect). The Indian Head cents $1,500.00 Buffalo nickels less key date maybe $500.00. Starter sets (whatever he means by that) for other series less than a few hundred each gets you a long way. In short a collection like this may seem daunting at first but I can assure you that if you invest as little as $50.00 a month on coins you can build it all in your lifetime. If you spend a few hundred a month you can build most of it in just a few years! You have all heard the joke "How do you eat an elephant?" Easy. One bite at a time. The same thing applies here. Buy one less coffee each day and start investing this extra money into coins instead. One day you will be VERY glad you did! Sincerely, John Leckrone

That is a nice collection, but I myself would not want to buy a collection, it is a lot more rewarding to put one together yourself then to just buy one. After all, if you buy it then what else is there after that?

Carl, The listing doesn't say anything about it having a 56 flying eagle in MS or any other grade. While it does say the Lincoln set is complete in MS, it doesn't say it has a 22 plain which in my opinion is not needed for a complete set. And the Walker set is described as being "above average" not MS. So you were comparing apples and oranges. I think 925dealer has the right take on this offer. (except for his comment on the Lincoln set which I think he has seriously undervalued in the condition the one in the sale is supposed to be.) This kind of a collection except for maybe the Lincoln set can be built by a collector of modest means over time without too much difficulty. All of those coins are common and/or readily available.

Another consideration is what the seller has invested in it, and his relative desire for cash flow. The seller has a stellar record, and there's no real reason to doubt the accuracy of the auction.

A Dansco Lincoln Album would include the 55Double, 72Double, 22Plain and all according to that complete statement would be there also. Normally an Indian Head collection includes the Flying Eagle coins which would mean the 56 included. Aside from that the 37 Dansco Albums alone should be over $1,000 in value, however, used Albums are not usually a big seller. Naturally there is still several days left for a bidder on this so the final price is still to be determined. And too I would think the COMPLETE Mercury Set would also include the 42/41, 42D/41, 21, 21D and all in almost to Uncirculated. Not sure where 925dealer gets his coins but sure would like that source for those prices. A complete set in AU with the 42/41, 42D/41, 21 and 21D? All for about $1,000. WOW.

Carl, did you even bother to look at the auction? Many pics are posted, you can obviously see what is included. Last time I checked, an 1856 Flying Eagle is not an Indian Head cent and the pic only shows IHCs, no FEs. It is also quite obvious that the Walking Liberty halves are not MS nor are the Mercs, the 21P and 21D are probably VG-F, nowhere near AU/MS. The only thing dramatically wrong is your unjust criticism of a 9000FB seller with 100% rating

After all, if you buy it then what else is there after that? I agree. However, if I had that kind of money, I might buy it just to prevent it from being broken up! Quote: A Dansco Lincoln Album would include the 55Double, 72Double, 22Plain My Dansco does not have a place for any doubled dies (1955 or 1972). It does have a hole for the 1922-D Plain, which taunts me daily.
