Hello,

Here are links to 2 spreadsheets I have created at the suggestions of a lot of wonderful people from these forums. Please give me your input. Please keep in mind that these are incomplete and are a work in progress.

Also for those who have been folowing my other posts I have decided to use Photobucket for my coin photo hosting because it seems to work well with CCF.

This is also a work in progress.

Thanks,

I used to use spread sheets like those some time back. They are really nice and if using Excel, easy to manipulate. The problem I've always found is as a collection grows excessively, the amount of work using any type of those spread sheets becomes also excessive.
For example I have over 3,000 Mercury dimes. Lots of those are in 12 Whitman Albums, others in 2x2's, some in plastic rolls. Just attempting to keep records on those alone would keep me up way to much at night.
As I said I too USED to do things like that and finally one day I said to myself, SELF, what are you doing. Why? For whom? What are you going to do with all that stuff? And MYSELF answered with STOP. So I did. This is supposed to be a hobby and for fun.
Of course if your plans are to make this a buisness, nice layouts.

Hello Carl,

What you say makes absolute perfect sense. This is after all just a hobby but it brings to mind the question if your collection, regardless of size, gets stolen and you don't have some sort of inventory then what? How necessary is a coin inventory for the average collector? Will I ever hit 3000 coins I hope so but I'm still a very new collector.

Thanks,
Rich
