I like the obverse of the ASE. Perhaps change the reverse like someone else mentioned. What we really need is a new product, How about some Palladium Eagles with a nice new Liberty design or some old favorites. As for coins such as the dime, it really needs a redesign, but I hope they stay away from putting dead presidents on it (i know they won't). Just give me Liberty!

Quote: a whopping 31 years! While I am all for changing up the coinage from time to time, let's compare the ASE to other US coinage: (excuse my math if I am off a little! ) Cent: Wheat rev = 49 years Memorial rev = 50 years Lincoln Obv = 101 years (and counting) Nickel: Monticello rev = 65 years (and counting) Original Jefferson obv = 66 years Dime: Obv and Rev = 64 years (and counting) Quarter: Eagle rev = 66 years Washington Obv = 78 years (and counting) The reason the Walking Liberty obv was "recycled" is, (IMHO) because it's one of the most beautiful designs to ever grace any coin. Like I said at the start, I am all for changing the coinage designs. But, I would have to say the ASE is at, or very near, the bottom of the list.

I would not mind them changing the ASE. Especially since they did not do a proof last year. The dime for sure needs a face lift

I like it. I just bought my first ASE a month ago anyway so the design is still new to me. Like others have mentioned, most American coins have been minted longer than this one.

It's funny I have a nearly complete collection of Commemorative dollars and half dollars just because they are new designs on every coin but because I like the American Eagle design so much I wouldn't want them to change it. As far as I'm concerned they should change the design of the dime very soon.

Put the Walking Liberty-style reverse on the ASE! ...and change the Dime! Specifically, 2016 100th Anniversary Winged Liberty (Mercury) Dime, 2016-P clad business strike, 2016-D 90% Silver uncirculated version, and 2016-S Proofs.... (if Denver had to make 2016-D Dimes for circulation, do those as Roosevelts, so all of the 2016-D Merc's would be Silver! )

I say we put Henry Ford on the cent with a model T reverse Thomas Edison on the nickel with a light bulb on the reverse Alexander Graham Bell on the Dime with a picture of a phone on the reverse. Albert Einstein on the Quarter... let the mint continue the series stuff on the reverse Nikola Tesla on the ASE with an eagle flying through a lightning storm on the back. This would celebrate 5 of the greatest men that ACTUALLY shaped our nation on our coinage.

"You can't do that, it makes too much sense." (DNA's favorite 'self-quote', I say it at work every day! )

I like the design, but if Uncle Sam changes it, we won't have a vote on it anyway.

Interesting: http://www.ccac.gov/aboutUs/AnnReports.cfmThe CCAC has been trying to get new liberty designs into circulzation for a few year. But I have not seen any recent activity on this topic, maybe a few friendly emails would help. To view Click on annual reports for 2007 or 2008. Quote: The CCAC would be pleased to assist in the development of other proposals for circulating commemoratives, including, possibly a five-year circulating "Liberty" commemorative series beginning in 2011. Each year, one denomination would be issued with an image representing Liberty, alongside the regular design for that denomination. The series could begin with a Liberty Half Dollar issued alongside the Kennedy half dollar during the year 2011, followed by a Liberty Quarter issued alongside the Washington quarter in 2012, a Liberty Dime issued alongside the Roosevelt dime in 2013, a Liberty nickel issued alongside the Jefferson nickel in 2014, and a Liberty Cent issued alongside the Lincoln Cent in 2015. With these five new coins, each issued for a single year, America's coinage would present a series of new, artistic images representing one of America's core values.

I would love to see Liberty on coinage again, but I do not like the "along side" aspect of the plan. Also, with it being a one-year design, I think they would be hoarded and not circulate well.

The problem is it takes an act of congress to have the new designs. (although the mint director can technically change the designs if they are old enough.) Congress will most likely squabble over taking a D or "R" off of a coin or be looked at the guy that hates Geo Washington cause he took him off the quarter.
i think right now this is what we can hope for or atleast have it turn into a cycle of the liberty coins being released every 5 years. Or the program being sucessful and public demand for what would prove to be much prettier coins in circulation will make all the ugly dead presidents go away.
