Dime Roll Searching

Searched four more boxes of dimes and a box of nickels today. The box of nickels was OK but no great, wit 17 pre-1959 coins, but no War Nickels, '30s, with a VF-20 1942-D my best find with the triangular roof partially visible. It may seem like it might be worth just a buck at most, but I see won auction on ebay had one in similar condition sell for $4.11.As for the dimes, box 1 was another Loomis 2015-P "skunkfest", box 2 my best with a VF-20 1944 Mercury, 2 1964, and a 1964-D. Box 3 contained a 1964 but unfortunately a 1991 UK 5 pence.



Box 4 had an EF 1947 and a 1960-D, along with a modern Canadian and Barbados dime (I'm dumping the last two since I've had some counting machines accept these). Barbados dimes can really fool you since the reeding is fairly close in style to that of an American dime, while Canadian dimes have shorter, somewhat thinner reeding. Still, seven silvers is not bad of a day, and with 20 silver dimes in the last three days, it was a decent way to finish out 2015.

Get another box!

Who knows? Maybe that roll just spilled out of a monster box!

4 boxes of dimes... 1 1964 roosie. ouch

Seems like dimes have been producing for folks lately, including me. I had my best dime box yet yesterday!

I picked up one box.

When I opened it, I saw this:







The ender roll had 3 in it:



and when it was all said and done, I had this:




This box produced 20 mercs, and a rosie. 5 of the mercs were hole fillers for me, including 35p, 39p, and the rest were s and d mints from the 40s which are written down at home, I can't recall at the moment.

So I went back to that bank with the lid of the dime box showing the 4 digit code. Asked the teller lady to look in the back to see if she could find more, she did not mind.

Unfortunately, there were no more, but she did grab me a box that was 1 number off. That was nice of her, though my hopes of a continuation box were dashed.

But, to my surprise, this box also gave up a hole filling merc, a 45-s in great shape! and also a 64. Not bad at all.

I went out again to another bank, and was going to ask them for the stamp #, but I decided to just let fate decide what I would get. Wouldn't you know, it was another 6027.

This box gave up a merc, and 2 rosies, one of which was a 46d hole filler!

That was 7 hole filling dimes yesterday, 6 mercs, and 1 rosie. That was a good dime day :-)

Awesome pulls, I have been doing half dollars and any bags that one of my banks produce from a coin machine.
But I think you guys are inspiring me to get back into dimes again.
