Finally found a 2009-d today, going through 5 rolls that I picked up with some other rolls.

In my change, I found a silver 1950 10 Ã-re coin from Sweden. This is the third silver foreign coin I've found (after a '57 and a '68 Canadian dime) and the second demonetized coin I've found (after an English 5p coin from 1970; the coin was downsized in 1990 and the old one ceased to be legal tender).

Searched 2 boxes, found 5 silver Roosevelt's. A '53, '57, '63 and 2 '64. I didn't check the mint marks, they're already in the junk silver jar.

I find it ironically amusing that we are all chasing after precious metal stamped with the image of a man who had no problem stealing vast quantities of it from us in his capacity as leader of the 'land of the free'.
oh well, found a 54 in change at the local eatery. Cut my bill by more than half. 3rd silver dime woo hoo!

I also find it amusing, and as well as the fact that some people still don't know they are giving out silver in change, with all the prices so high these days. Sure, here the term silver is used lightly and we have all become immune to it, but if you told a cashier what they just handed out they might flip!They would suddenly think about how much silver they MIGHT have handed out in the years and feel disappointed.

An N.F. String box last night yielded a 1953-D. I thought I would tally up my finds so far. I don't search dimes much, but I already have next week's order in.

a whole roll of Mercury dimes? where was that quote from biggfredd I must have missed it, anyways congrats I am excited for a week when I find one Mercury dimefinally nice weather in Buffalo, gonna get my boxes anyway in case we get some rain or something in the next few days It's probably gonna take me a while to search my order though lets hope for the best |

one box got me a '47d. It was the clear wrappers so I just edge searched. it was nice to not have to open any of the rolls except for the one that I found the silver. was a fast easy box.

The quote was from the customer who brought them in. He prolly made more on coins than food that day.

1 silver in my box for the week 1961 D 2 2009 P 3 1969 P 1 2001 die crack that goes across the entire face on the obverse of the coin, edge to edge I will see if my girlfriend can photograph it PS. murrelington I get the clear wrapped rolls every once in a while and always go through them I have found 3 Mercury dimes and one Roosevelt dime after an initial edge search. I always suggest digging through the coins I have also found 2009 coins (good trade bate), many proofs (around 15) and am still looking for the 1982 no mint mark. I guess some people don't think its worth it, but look for worn dark edges too, those can be old silver lots more to grab other then silver, and a possibility for a coin worth way more then a 2-3 dollar, depending on the day, silver coin |
