The price is WAY too high. These sell on ebay for $70 to $90 regularly and have gone as low as $60 recently.

Take a pass.

I bought the same 2009, except it was a slabbed MS-69, and I got it for $23.00. It also came with some "coin reading literature" and a 10x Bausch & Lomb magnifier.
Now there is (and should be) a nice jump in value to a MS-70, of course....but the price you named seems INSANELY HIGH !
"MS-70" notwithstanding.....keep in mind that this year 2009 of ASE's are an extremely high mintage.....nothing rare about this year at all for the MS ones. So....there's also going to be a lot more that will grade MS-70 too, when compared to other years.

Red Book has Burnished 09 Silver Eagle at $28. I was also wondering about the coin itself, I was under the impression the Mint didn't strick 09 Silver Eagles?

I think I see what the seller did.

He went to ebay.com, searched 2009 Silver Eagle MS-70 and came up with 2 pages of buy it now 2009 Silver Eagles.

Prices range from $87.50 to $1450.00. The $1450.00 one, happens to be slabbed by PCGS, and has POTUS's picture on the label.

I'm thinking $30 - $40 for an offer.

If it were me, I would not make an offer that low. $60 would be a reasonable offer but you could bid on some pieces and get one for around $60 too.

Does the MS70 make a big difference to you? If not then get an MS69 for $25.

Grade MS-69 or MS-70 is not big difference at all. As one poster already stated there's nothing rare about these coins. They're bullion issue, and there were roughly 30.4 million produced last year.

Why does the US Mint's website continue to say that 2009 Eagles will not be minted? Are they referring to Westpoint?
If so, then are the other Eagles not considered "uncirculated"?

Now, I'm really confused. Weren't the burnished ones from Westpoint?

Oh, and one more thing, I can't personally tell the difference between a 69 & 70. I thought the 70 had to be flawless, but apparently even contact or bag marks are allowed. I even have a 70 with Machine Doubling (huh?). So, for my money, it's 69's.

They're a fraction of the cost and look just as good.

Only bullion Silver Eagles were struck in 2009. The Red Book you're quoting was likely printed over a year ago and included the price assuming burnished ASE would be struck - they were not.

Being new to collecting, I purchased a 2009 MS70/NGC for $95. I know now that was way to much to pay. Live and learn. Is the MS70 worth the money compaired to MS69. It's all in what you want, personally.
