This is a recent purchase for my 20th Century Type Set. What grade would you give it?

Very Nice I agree with AU-55.

Not knowing much about this set, I'd have to agree its an AU50 coin or better.
The remaining shield detail and hair detail for a 95 year old coin are excellent.

This coin is almost exactly the same in detail and luster to my barber half type, which also happens to be a 1915-d..lol. Mine was NGC graded AU-53, so that would be my guess. I like the toning on yours better though, and a 55 wouldn't surprise me one bit!

58 for high luster and eye appeal IMO

I was thinking AU58 as well. Its really nice.
One of my collecting aspirations one day is to try and assemble an XF-AU collection of halves. I know this will be a challenge and expensive especially with condition rarities such as the 04-S

yeah the 04-s is ridiculously expensive in XF/AU, and on top of that sellers overcharge like crazy whenever a halfway nice one comes up.

ShadowCreator and JimR could work for PCGS:) It is in an AU58 holder. I think the luster is what bumped it up to 58. I didn't want to pay the money for a MS63+ coin and I think this one looks about as good. I'm happy with it.

Yeah, I like getting sliders unless the series is cheap in unc because often they look better.

Too late to offer an unbiased grade, but I was also thinking AU-58. There is slight rub on Liberty's cap and the luster is slightly dull in the obverse fields from friction. Nice luster, original attractive toning, and sharply struck. A beautiful coin, congrats!

I often think that because pictures can be deceiving, its often impossible to determine AU or UNC with really close sliders based on color, the fields etc. What I rely on instead is the presence of hairlines on the cheek, etc. That tends to indicate minor rub.
