I was at a local coin store yesterday and struck up a conversation with the owner about starting to collect something else (I have been working on Mercury dimes and Indian Head cents). I was telling him I wanted to collect something in BU condition and fairly easy to finish. He suggested Franklin halves and gave me a nice used Dansco album he had from a collection he bought! I now have a new set to work on and have already filled two holes (1954D and 1963D). So now I have 33 more Franklins to go and I am very excited! (For my other sets I need 1 Mercury dime, and 16 IHC's).

I think his suggestion was right on Not only are Franklin's easily obtainable, most can be found easily in BU. Now, FBL can be a little tougher but not impossible of course

Let us know how it's progressing and congrats!

The Franklin halves are a nice set, good luck. I would also recommend the Roosevelt dimes if you are looking at an inexpensive BU set. In fact, many times you can find BU coins in dealers "junk silver" boxes for about spot. It will also complement your Merc set.

I added four more BU Franklins to my album today. I added a 1948, 1953, 1958, and 1963. I now have 6 down and 29 more to go. I love progress!

I haven't updated this in a while, but I now only need 16 more Franklins to finish the set! I have also began to collect circulated Peace dollars.
